DAY 8 – Grey Gull Special!

We headed into Chester’s main street and bumped into Kirsty Hinchcliffe… AKA OfficerRafferty AKA Mrs Lucas Bryant! Unlike her cop alterego she was really friendly and talkative and we had a long chat about all sorts from living in Chester compared with LA, the Ebola crisis, and long working hours on Haven to shopping in Sydney! She even gave me career advice  which I really appreciated. Thanks Kirsty for making our morning!

After that we headed out – at long last – to visit The Grey Gull. ICYMI check out our location video:

After viewing the exterior Doug the owner gave us a tour round the inside! It was fantastic being able to check out the little props from coloured candles to the specials board that make the Gull, well, the Gull.

We also spotted a band set in one corner – could we finally be seeing a ‘musical’ episode of Haven? I’ve always thought the Gull would be perfect for a featured – maybe Troubled – band 🙂

We headed upstairs to check out Audrey’s apartment which was empty save some equipment. It’s unsurprising this is used as storage since scenes aren’t shot in there and the producers rent the Gull for the entire season. But the views from the balcony are stunning!

On our way back to our hotel we took little detour to search out the Haunted House. A nightmare to find down a forest road, it really does feel creepy – even from the outside!

After getting ready for a big last night we headed back into Chester and chanced upon an open- doored Haven Herald! A production team was inside setting up for EPK interviews and very kindly invited us in to have a look around. Needless to say we were like kids in a candy store!

We found printing presses and chess boards, writing desks and even the Tutankhamun replica where Cabot’s journal is hidden in episode 501. A little known fact is the interior of Jordan’s bar, the Gun and Rose, is actually filmed in the back room of the Herald building. This is currently used as a store room for the Teagues’ tandem bike and some of the mysterious Archives!

Already brimming with excitement we headed to the Fo’c’sle for our Haven Fan Party…
